How to find the e-books

You can find the e-books in Andor search service or in the e-book service's own interface.

Number of simultaneous users
  • Mostly unlimited.
  • Also 1-3 user licenses.
Reading 
  • You can read the e-books online in Ebook Central's own reader (no program installations required). 
  • If an e-book is not available, you can place a hold on it. Please add your wait list email in your profile. You will be notified by email when to book is available. The hold period is one day (the length of time that the book will be reserved for the patron between when the email notification is sent and when the hold is no longer available for that patron). You can find the reserved book in your Ebook Central bookshelf (Holds). Please sign in with your tuni account to Ebook Central.
Downloading 

You can download most of the books or chapters into your own device and read them offline.

Downloading requires:

  • Singning in to Ebook Central with your TUNI user account
  • Adobe Digital Editions or corresponding (computers and mobile devices)
  • Adobe ID for activating the reader application into your device

Instructions for downloading

Loan period: 1–21 days (varies according to each e-book). Some books have the option to choose 1-23 hour loan period.

NB. It is not possible to return the book before the loan day expires automatically. You can remove the book from Adobe Digital Editions but it remains on your Bookshelf until the date expires.

Printing and copying
  • Limited. The number of pages varies according to each e-book.
  • The online reader creates a PDF which can be printed.
  • Unlimited print and copy option for open access books.

The link for Ebook Central book or individual book chapter can be copied and shared from Share link button. The links contain Tampere University community's identifier and they open with a tuni account also remotely.
